Infrared Thermography Inspection – Building Inspection

Missing, damaged, or inadequate insulation, building envelope air leaks, moisture intrusion, and substandard work are costly to residential and commercial building owners. Thermal imaging can help you quickly target the source of the problem so you can help customers make informed decisions on repairs.

LOW VOLTAGE INSPECTION

Electrical cabinets and motor control centers are regularly scanned with a thermal imaging camera. If left unchecked, heat can rise to a point that connections melt and breakdown; as result, fires may break out.

Examples of failures in low-voltage installations:

Poor connections and internal damage

Internal circuit breaker faults

High resistance connections

Corroded connections

Internal fuse damage

HIGH VOLTAGE INSPECTION

Heat is an important factor in High Voltage equipment. When electrical current passes through a resistive element, it generates heat. An increased resistance results in an increase in heat. Temperatures of the cooling fins and the high voltage connection can be compared so that, if necessary, corrective action can be taken before real problems occur. Other high voltage installations that are checked with an IR camera include Circuit Breakers and Switchers and High-Voltage Power Lines.

Examples of failures in high-voltage installations:

Oxidation of high voltage switches

Incorrectly secured connections

Overheated connections

Insulator defects
